Protassium Featured Crop

At the time of development for the site, Compass has three crops that they have the most varying types of content for and are thus featured. They are Potatoese, Almonds, and Alfalfa. These crops have their own template from within the site.

Edit a page

Although technically possible, a user shouldn't need to publish a new featured crop until deemed necessary. So, here's how to edit an existing template.

Content > Edit > Featured Crop

Here are the components to edit

Titles, URLS, URIs

At the time of this writing, the page title will pipe into the subhead of the page's hero image area.

To add tags that help with site search, type in a word or phrase and hit Enter. No commas needed. Suggesting tabs and top tags can be utilized to populate tabs but are not required actions as long as some tags are assigned to the entry.

Hero Area

Hero images utilize images found within the Assets module. Size is set to at least 680 px high and a minimum of 1100 px wide. Images that are a little larger than these are encouraged as they provide more flexibility for legacy browsers to render the images correctly.

The hero tagline will receive the larger font size so being conscious of writing brief taglines is advised.

Protassium+ section

This is a hard coded element of the page. These don't serve as links or a subnav, but show what the rest of the page content will be.

Why Protassium section

The existence of the Why Protassium section is informed from the old textbook crop sites as there used to be several pages that were specific to each crop about why the product was beneficial to that crop. This section helps wrangle that together.

screen shot 2014-09-29 at 3 52 19 pm The heading of the Page can be edited, but Why Protassium seems to be the consistent choice.

A sub heading field is available; however currently it is not utilized throughout the featured crops.

Next are the links to each of the respective pages. The Link Title, Button Text, and page can be designated. With the text for the title and buttons, be mindful of length.

For the pages, a dropdown is chosen that looks at interior pages and standard crops.

A minimum of 4 pages can be displayed and a max of 6 (as Almonds had 6 pages.)

News and Insights section

This replaces the News and Resources section from the old textbook sites. This is an area where you can feature articles that have been posted on the site and will be emailed out to users as part of the newsletters.

Click on one entry on the left, hit the right facing arrow and that completes the selection.

Calculator section

This is not a CMS driven component. Each featured crop has a respective calculator for calculating potassium uptake and the link is done through a cross reference of the url.

Research Studies section

Research studies are featured by linking to individual studies and showing the user an excerpt.

First choose the research article from the dropdown. Next column will be the text used for the featured blurb (ideally this is a stat from the research that puts Pro+ in a good light and makes the user want to click through to read more.) The blur is hidden when a user is visiting the page on a smart phone (as the text tends to be longer.) The next column deals with the source. A WYSIWYG editor is available so that in line linking to the document or website can be done.
